Ethnic costumes: LÀO ETHNIC GROUP
The Lào women’s traditional costumes comprise a headscarf, a short shirt, a skirt, and a belt,... The long headscarf is indigo color, is adorned with colored fabric tassels at both ends, and is worn tilted to one side (similar to Lự women). The short shirt is made of indigo, plaid, or floral fabrics, open chest buttons, collar decorated with string patterns with silver or aluminum buttons... The skirt is ankle-length and the bottom part of the skirt is elaborately decorated with horizontal motifs depicting people, leaves, birds, etc.
Belts are often made of white or blue yarn. Side bags are crafted from cotton fabric, and decorated with patterns resembling turtles, rice grains, etc. Lào women use hairpins when styling their hair into a bun on the crown, and wear tubular earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings,... A few people still dye their teeth black or cover them with gold. Children often wear "vía" bracelets...
