Ethnic costumes: HÀ NHÌ ETHNIC GROUP (CHỒ CỒ)

CHARACTERISTIC DESCRIPTION

Hà Nhì women often wear two shirts: an inner shirt with long sleeves and body, and an outer shirt with both short sleeves and body. They have outerwear styles: square or round neck, sleeveless, and worn in a pullover style. Other types of shirts worn by Hà Nhì women include those with chest openings or side-buttoning shirts (Northern style). Nowadays, Hà Nhì women also wear pants, specifically the "chân què" style with a leaf-shaped waistband, wide legs, and a large hem. There are almost no decorations or embroidery on the pants.
Hà Nhì women have long hair wrapped around their heads or braid their hair into a roll and wrap it around their heads. The scarves of Hà Nhì women have various styles. Young girls wear long white scarves adorned with numerous silver, aluminum, or bead decorations. Upon marriage, women wear longer white scarves, while those with husbands wear indigo-colored scarves. Additionally, they wear cylindrical hat scarves and square indigo-colored scarves with four-sided color-threaded borders, adorned with beads and embroidered patterns in the center. Among the above decorative styles, piecing together colored fabrics is a unique form and appears a lot among them. Their clothes often feature colorful embroidered patterns. The attachment of artifacts to clothing, primarily on shirts, headscarves, and waistbands, is almost a common decoration among the Tibeto-Burman ethnic groups, including the Hà Nhì.
